The free SAFE IC app turns any smartphone into a personal safety device and plays a key role in Ithaca College’s commitment to campus well-being. Working in conjunction with the college’s Emergency Notification System, the app supports both mass alerts (IC Alerts) and easy access to essential safety and wellness resources.
Key Features of the SAFE IC App:
- Emergency Calling with Location Sharing: Contact Ithaca College Public Safety or local 911 in just two taps—your GPS location is automatically shared.
- Support & Crisis Hotlines: Connect with campus, local and national support services, including the IC Health Center, IT Service Desk, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and Poison Control.
- Access to Campus Resources: Visit websites for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the LGBTQ Center, Title IX Office, Facilities Services, and more—all from within the app.
- Friend Timer (Virtual Escort): Set a timer and choose a friend or family member to act as your “guardian” who can monitor your progress as you travel on or off campus.
